Nature of problem:In order to avoid the recalculation of angular momentum coupling coefficients required in certain types of quantum mechanical calculations, an efficient packed storage mode has been devised. Structured arrays are constructed in which the storage requirements have been reduced by making use of the symmetry properties of the Wigner 3-j coefficients. Rapid retrieval of a 3-j coefficient is possible without searching through the arrays. A separate return enables the user to obtain the appropriate Clebsh-Gordan coefficient. | ||

Solution method:A five-dimensional structured array with variable bounds. | ||

Restrictions:The range of the values of j1 and j2 in the Wigner 3-j coefficient { j1 j2 j3 } { m1 m2 m3 } are assumed to be equal. All allowed values of m1 and m2 are considered. | ||
