Programming language: Fortran.

Computer: CYBER 173-12.

Operating system: NOS/BE.

RAM: 128K words | ||

Word size: 60 | ||

Peripherals: disc. | ||

Keywords: Plasmadynamics, Plasmacentrifuge, Finite element method, Mhd, Plasma physics.

Classification: 19.10.

Nature of problem:Rotation of a partially ionized gas in a cylinder, caused by crossed electric and magnetic fields.

Solution method:The system of PDE's is discretized to a symmetric system of linear equations by means of the finite element method using continuous piecewise bilinear functions. The linear system is scaled and solved by means of the conjugate gradient method.

Restrictions:A workspace is needed of about 16 times the dimension of the linear system to be solved. The maximal size of the workspace depends on the computer system.

Running time:Proportional to the square of the dimension of the linear problem. |
