Nature of problem:
The evaluation of slowly convergent series (sequences), the summation of divergent series and the rational approximation of functions having formal series expansions are problems which occur quite frequently in the mathematical analysis of physical problems. For example, the summation of divergent series is of great importance in the large order perturbation theory of quantum mechanical systems.

Solution method:
Symbolic and numerical computation techniques are used to perform sequence transformations for increasing the rate and expanding the domain of the convergence of series (sequences).

Running time:
This is strongly problem dependent: The test example given took 65.75 sec cpu time on IBM RS/6000 with AIX Version 3.1.
