Nature of problem:
The program calculates the generalised Talmi coefficients defined in Yu.F. Smirnov, Nucl. Phys. 27 (1961) 177 and used to obtain the centre- of-mass (c.m.) and relative wavefunctions of two particles having different masses mu1 and mu2 moving in a harmonic oscillator potential. With these coefficients, it is easy to separate the c.m. motion of a group of nucleons in the shell model as well as of nucleon clusters in the cluster model of nuclei.

Solution method:
This formula includes sums over a relatively large number of indices whose values are governed by a comparable number of selection rules. To calculate a Talmi coefficient, the selection rules are appropriately set up, and then the sums over the different indices are computed in a straightforward way by a nest of DO loops.

Running time:
The time required to calculate a Talmi coefficient depends upon the values of its arguments. For values of arguments ranging from 0 to 4, the execution time of a coefficient varies from 0.3 to 1.5 s on the IBM 7044.
